June 6th-13th, 2007 Photo gathering in Wyoming's Fremont Canyon Area Some of us Wyoming
photographers have decided to have a gathering. We'll be getting together
for a week or so of photographing, flyfishing, feasting and fun in the Fremont
Canyon area southwest of Casper. The timeframe will center on the weekend
of the 9th and 10th of June, 2007. I'll be arriving on Wednesday, the 6th,
and will most likely be parking my camper in one of the RV spots at the
Riverview Inn (For some reason I'm just more comfortable when I have a good Bar
& Grill close by
Please RSVP to: bruce@bnimages.com Everyone will be responsible for their own food and lodging arrangements, but the following info should make your planning easier. There are hotel rooms available at the Riverview Inn, and Sloanes has some fairly nice cabins to rent. Both places have a few RV pads with full hookups. There are also plenty of hotels 35 miles away in Casper, and there are scads of camping spots within a few miles. Some of you may decide on a combination by camping and then getting a room every other night or so for the shower and bed. Here are some of the rates you can expect: Riverview Inn:

Area Maps This is a nice overview of the area with camping spots, etc. listed.
What to expect: Fremont Canyon is located southwest of Casper between Alcova and Pathfinder reservoirs. I consider it to be one of the most beautiful areas I've ever laid eyes on and one of the best kept secrets in the scenic world. I stopped by there a couple of months ago while returning from a business trip and burned off a couple of quick rolls of 35mm slide film just to give you an idea of what you'll be missing if you fail to show up. Bear in mind that it was midday, I was in a terrible hurry and I pretty much suck at getting good scans out of my old Canon flatbed so don't bother critiquing the shots. I'm well aware of their shortcomings. They should serve to give you a decent idea of the possibilities, however. All of them were shot within a few miles of each other.
